My Personal Practice - Healing for a Friend

Just a quick little post…

The wonder-witch who is Joey Morris has been suffering with migraines lately and as a friend this just doesn’t stand with me so… “to the altar!”

This was a wordless spell as the intention in my mind was perfectly strong enough and as much as I love my wordy spells, time seemed of the essence, instead of focusing on rhymes and chants.

The photograph is a focal point, the candle is for the speed of fire magick, sprinkled with himalayan rock salt for deep cleansing and lavender for peace of mind. The crystals on the right are bloodstone, to draw the power of women; an amethyst/quartz point because I put amethyst with everything and it is an energiser; finally a rough piece of carnelian for strength. On the left side is a black stone (not a precious stone or something crystalline) to drawn anything negative from the recipient.

To cast this spell, I spent time raising my energy and imbued that through my hands while I was setting the spell up. I may say a few words when the spell ends but for now, the candle burns on my altar… sending strength and healing to my friend.

Post Script
Looking at the image… there is an orb on the image of Joey. Love it when that happens and I get footage of spirits/guides carrying out my spell. :D

Book of Shadows - Spell Pages – Healing Page

Oh, this has been a long time coming. I have wanted to bring this idea to manifestation for so long but for some reason the timing wasn’t right or the energies were off and I just couldn’t bring it out of my mind and into my Book of Shadows. Therefore, it is with a great sigh of relief that I relax my shoulders, breathe deeply and exult in its presence. A true labour love was undertaken to create this amazing working which sends gentle healing energy through the aether to a million recipients for a plethora of ailments, problems and issues that need a little healing energy to nudge them in a more positive direction.

So here we are and my Healing Page is ready for regular application into my practice. It is a two page entry into the ‘Spell Pages’ section of my Book of Shadows…
«     Spell Page: Explanation of the healing energies and the mood and motivation required to send the energies; the ritual method of the spell with the items needed and how to perform the ritual; the element invocation I wrote and employ for…

«     Recipient Page: This is the page that lists the names of those I will be sending healing to; for privacy reasons I will not show that page but in addition to family, friends and requested names to be on the list, I have added the Royal Family, all the Armed Forces, all the emergency services, as well as teacher, social workers, carers, charity workers, foster carers, freedom fighters, and aid workers, etc. All those people who might not necessarily need healing but need something, just a little energy boost. This spell I have devised covers all of those little down-moods, dark days, as well as the aches and pains.

As it’s not very easy to see the actual working on the image, I have added the write up below. Please feel free to use it as it is or make your own adaptations to suit your practise. I’d love to see any changes you make if you choose to take on this idea for your own Books of Shadows.

The Ritual
·        5 tea light candles or spell candles
·        A healing crystal (Blue Calcite)

1.          Cast a circle, inclusive of calling the quarters, this is vital as this rite utilises them.
2.        Light your working candle, then ground and centre. This is necessary so that when you send you healing, your only energy is in good condition.
3.        Place the candles at the pentacle points on the opposite page and light them. Place the healing crystal in the centre of them. Visualise an energy pentagram over the printed one between the candle flames.
4.       Raise and manifest healing energy to the hands by drawing from the rune and Ogham symbols and using the surrounding rhyme/invocation/chant; this will also charge the energy as it manifests. For me the healing manifests as bluey grey smoke, swirling, pluming and thick.
5.        I push this energy through the visualised pentacle to every person listed, see it travel through the crystal, circling the page, gathering its list of ‘patients’. Visualise it disperse into the aether as it takes your healing out.

Element/Direction Association

I thought I would take the time to mention, as you will probably notice, that the associations between elements and directions are not traditional. This is by design and specifically changed to assist my energy flow during ritual. I’ll go through them individually with the reasoning behind each.

Air/North
This is not an uncommon switch as Earth and Air are often interchangeable between North and East but my choice is based on two things. Firstly, I am an Air sign and therefore I consider this element my personal North; the second reason is because physical air that we breathe is north of the physical earth; everyone on the planet breaths in the air that is above them and around them…this is a connection I will use to send healing.

Fire/East
This decision was based on the Sun. As the largest body in the sky, it feels like the most sensible representation of constant fire and the first place I see it, just like the rest of the world, is in the East as it rises. Again, this connection will be a channel for healing.

Earth/South
I walk with the earth beneath my feet… as does everybody else; the Earth is South of every physical body; this is a connection everyone on the planet shares and I am using this connection as a channel for healing.

Water/West
Quite apart from being the last available pairing, the nearest body of water to me, at least a place where I visit, is in the West. Also as I consider water to be the opposite of fire, it made sense to me to make the directions opposite of these two elements opposite as well. The connection here is that we all use water and so regardless of how we use it, what its condition is or how much or little we have of it… water links us as a form of sustenance.

Many Blessings x)O(x

Healing Meditation

Healing Meditation
(From Spells & Charms by Nicola de Pulford

This aromatic meditation is a spiritual foray to
restore your balance with the natural world.

This is slightly reworded from the original text by Nicola de Pulford but it is the same information. I love this meditation. It is so very calming.

You will need:
  • A bowl of sand
  • A bunch of dandelions
  • Vetiver oil
  • Cotton pad

Preparation
Find a comfy chair and position it so that you will be facing south during the meditation. The bowl of sand should be placed so that when sitting in the chair, your bare fit will sit comfortably in it. Put the dandelions in a glass vase, somewhere in plain view whilst sitting in your chair. The vetiver oil (2 drops) is to be placed on the cotton pad.

Sit in your chair and place your feet in the sand. Inhale the scent of the vetiver with long deep breaths, wafting the cotton pad in front of you. Think of Mother Earth. Squeeze your toes into the sand and visualise your spiritual body being enveloped by warm brown robe – because I’m dramatic in my meditations, mine has golden swirls patterned on it – this robe is enriching your life with fertility. Whilst you’re doing this remember that you are part of the inexorable circle of life and that earth – the beautiful sacred home of all that we love – needs your care and protection as much as you need hers.

A 1-2-3 Method
1) Collect your dandelions and fill a large bowl with sand. I use the bowl from the kitchen sink.
2) Gaze at the flowers, focus on them, as your mind drifts with the beautiful scent.
3) Feel the heaviness of the sand around your feet and close your eyes, allow your whole body to become as one with it.

Rune Interpretation - Ur (Uruz)

Basic Meaning:
Strength; healing; mental powers; internal transition; spiritual strength; primal power; courage; overcoming obstacles
For men – virility; manhood
For women – fertility; femininity; womanhood

Magical Application:
Enhances strength; ‘sends’ courage

Deity Association:
Thor; Urdl; Firogynn

Characterisation & Interpretation

This rune means Aurochs and the Auroch was a European wild ox, it easy then to characterise as encompassing strength and endurance, courage and the raw, wild power that is only obtained with freedom. It is the epitome of male strength and all that makes masculinity so potent, spiritually, emotionally and sexually.

A time of ending and a time of beginning – Uruz is an indication of a major life change being imminent or in the process of coming to fruition. Receiving the Uruz rune in a reading is also indicative of a new opportunity which disguised as something to fear. It implies mental agility and the ability to see a situation as it is and not how you want to see it. The power of Uruz tells you to develop, grow and evolve, this can mean physically or mentally.

It gives advice and encouragement – its presence is the realisation that you have the strength to bring your dreams into reality. It also asks to heed the warning that the strength to bring your dreams to fruition comes with responsibility – do not let ego better you, do not let others dictate your path; use your strength as a positive way of focusing on your needs and not as a way to dominate those who exude the negative.

Reversed Meaning:
Frazzled and fluffy brain syndrome would be my term a reversed Uruz – the inability to think clearly. This could be indicative of illness or a lack of mental fortitude. It is also a warning – Beware the bane of weakness; a second warning of a reversed Uruz is that there could be an impending threat to your person or position

Converse (face-down):
Whilst face up Uruz is the sign of apparent strength, converse, it symbolises hidden strengths to be realised – potential. Also it advises to rebuff opportunities that may have hidden flaws; its presence is a warning that if something seems too good to be true, it usually is.

Healing Sodalite Talisman With Lime & Lavender

You will need:
  • Altar pentacle
  • Illuminator candles/working candle
For the talisman:
  • A sodalite crystal - approx ¾” – 1½”
  • A length of blue ribbon – approx 10”
  • 2 drops - Lime essential oil
  • 4 drops Lavender essential oil
(Optional) Element charge:
A representation of each element that has a
healing aspect; my choices for this working:

  • ~Earth~
Salt & glitter mix
  • ~Air~
A blue feather
  • ~Fire~
Blue candle
  • ~Water~
Spring water with blue sequins

What to do:
  1. Light your working and/or illuminator candles and place the sodalite onto your altar pentacle.
  2. Prepare your element representations (light candles, incense, etc). Hold each one in turn – from earth, through air and fire, to water - and focus on its healing power.
  3. Take the ribbon and drip the oil on to the middle, saying:
“Lime, lime I ask your aid
Purify where you are laid

Oh Lavender, queen of heavens scent
Heal and bless where you are sent”.

  1. Pick up the sodalite and hold it in your ‘dominant hand’ as you charge it with your healing intentions for the recipient of the talisman. I personally say:
Stone of brightest, deepest blue
Heal all entities touching you
On your skin the blackest fleck
Neutralise energy there to wreck
Whitest streaks neutralise
Dark to light, fool to wise

  1. Place the stone onto the middle of the oiled ribbon, and wrap it in a cross, like you would a gift box. You will tie 5 knots – 3 on one side, 2 on the other.
a)    By knot of one, the spell’s begun
b)    By knot of two, this charge is true
c)     By knot of three, energy’s sent – cross the ribbon to the other side of the stone.
d)    By knot of four, hold my intent
e)     By not of five, this spell’s is alive

  1. Place the talisman back onto your altar and for a few minutes (or until you have the image solid) visualise the energies swirling inside it – the crystals own patterns and colours; the lime and lavender oils; the blue of the ribbon and the spell you just bound into the knots.
  2. If you are also going to charge with the elements…
Pick it up once more and pass it through your elements, saying:
Healing air wind your way
Keep the anxious thoughts at bay

Healing earth beneath each stride
Keep steady all that is inside

Healing fire, flame that spreads
Keep away the fears and dreads

Healing water flow within
Keep emotions from spinnin’

  1. Extinguish your candles and there you have your talisman.

Additional touches
    • Engrave onto the sodalite the healing rune symbol of Berkano
b

  • Decorate the finished talisman with charms, rhinestones, etc.
