Wittering on… 09/10/14

Well, what a witchy week I’m having! With the Hunter’s Moon last night, I had an small esbat celebration: drawing down the moon, creating full moon water, a power meditation and a reading of The Charge of the Goddess. I will create a full post on either the October Moon or my activities for the later in the week; maybe both, depends on time.

I am writing a Witch Charge. I am very enamoured with Charges at the moment. Their abilty to raise energy and connect people, to bring Deity into our midst. It is an experiment to see if the same level of energy, connection and divinity can be reached if it is the Witch whom is charged. I shall post this as soon as it done.

I have also made progress on my Universal wand; it has finally dried out enough to work on so I am very happy about that. It is now partially rubbed down. Just waiting for a few more tools to arrive so I can create it how I want. This will start to change and become a comrade in the magickal arts very soon now I have started.

Also in wand news, I have rescued some apple branches from my dad’s axe wielding in the garden which are drying out to be transformed early next year. And as my new chisel set arrived yesterday, I was playing with the smaller branch to practice my ‘skinning’ ability. I have enough branches for approximately 7 wands. 4 are taken up as gifts for Ostara/Beltaine but the remainder will be available for sale - £8.99 (+P&P). I have kept the price low as I am new to wand making for others. I have made them for myself before but I have rustic tastes, if I’m selling them, they should possibly be a little prettier.

 

The last thing I’d like to witter on about is a book I ordered which came yesterday: Sacred Earth Celebrations, by Glennie Kindred. It is bumper packed full of Sabbat ideas and suggestions. I’m only about 1/3 of the way through but I cannot put it down. I may begin book review posts from this book. What do you think?

Golden Moon - A Spell for Opportunities

This is a spell to make you receptive to opportunities which are within your reach. It has been in my Book of Shadows for about ten years and as I am currently revamping said book, I thought it was time to revamp the spell too.

You will need:

• 2 Mirrors
• 3 orange candles
• A length of orange cord
• Honesty seeds

Instructions:

1.          Place the mirrors opposite each other so that one mirror reflects a moonbeam back into the other.

2.        Take one of the candles and warm it so that you can scratch your initials at the op of the warm wax.

3.        Stand midway between the mirrors with the candles around you, so that you can see your initials on the candle.

4.       Light the candles and return to your place, holding the orange cord in your right hand and the honesty seeds in your left.

5.        Stand in the beam of moonlight and absorb its energy while the candles burn and free the letters of your name.

6.        Turn seven times, clockwise, trailing the cord around you to gather the moonbeams about your body.

7.        Open yourself to all receive all that comes your way; then, retire and sleep with the honesty seeds under your pillow.

8.        Bury them the next day.

This spell is to open you up to opportunities so I feel it necessary to prepare for those opportunities, to be ready and balanced to accept them. For this reason, I added an incense blend to the spell – my ‘Reset Incense’ is charged to rebalance your energy so that when the opportunities come, you can be open to them. I light the incense once the mirrors are in position and let it burn until the end of the spell.

Incense Blend
The amount of each ingredient used can be altered for your specific needs (e.g. if you feel your magickal energy is specifically waning, use more carnation in the incense and tailor the colour of the carnation to correspond to that).

• Black pepper (Mental alertness)
• Carnations (protection; strength; healing; vitality; physical energy, love, health, magickal energy)
• Frankincense (spirituality; protection; banishing of negative entities; consecration; meditation)

Wittering on 14/02/14 - Full Moon Drama

It seems that as I had prioritised my studies over the enjoyment and acknowledgement of the full moon, the Goddess was making me see reason. On a whim I went outside for some fresh air and a clearing appeared through the heavy cloud cover out of nowhere... there she was, bright and full. As I had planned to bless full moon water tonight, the words came to me as easy as if she had said them first and I was repeating them back:

Blessed Goddess, heed my call,

Send your light through my wall.

Bless the water especially laid,

With your sacred glow cascade.

So mote it be!

As soon as I was done, she slipped back behind clouds out of view. On my way back up the stairs, the answer to my other spell problem solved itself. So I went back downstairs and out into the garden again, to thank her and once again the moon appeared from behind the clouds...

Bright Mother, I thank you

For your wisdom so true

These words are empowered

By the light that you showered

The dark clouds hid her as I finished my thanks and I felt her presence slowly dissipate.

I’ve shared this because I know to prioritise the Goddess at the Full Moon, I’ve been a witch for a long time and the Full Moon is like her birthday but it’s good to know she’ll kick me up the butt if I forget. I just hope she remembers mine – lol!!!
