To Soar

To where I can see
From where I sit in dreaming
Mortals cannot flee

How I wish I could
Oh how I wish I just could
Escape to those skies

The cobalt heavens
Beauty just out of my reach
Not close enough for....

Graceful, tranquil bliss
Freedom of body and soul
Endless paradise

Where the winds do meet
And in restless need, display
Dances of the fall

Feel it through my wings
See its presence in my eyes
To soar, oh, to soar

Up and up I'd go
Ascending to icy heights
Where angels fear flight

Perilous but free
And what can only be dreamt
By the grounded soul

Riding every blast
Each flutter, gust and gale
To glide the open air

Though dusk is now nigh
Faster still I'd up the charge
Race with winged things

Quickly it grows dark
With storm clouds fast approaching
I dive to shelter

The dream, it did fade
But all too soon will return
Just to soar once more

Summer Child

Farewell to spring, goodbye she sings

As summer magic spreads its wings

Floral flushes waltz through green

So, call the Sun God to the scene

With brightest blue the sky does bloom

Casts out the dark, it has no room

For light will frolic and light will play

When summer nights bring out the fae.

Dance in clover, bathe under the moon

Let in the power that’s gone too soon

Rich and bright the colours flow

Breathe them in from above, below

The golden glow of lengthened days

Warmth’s abound at summer rays

Heated earth wielding the scent

Of each Litha that came and went

And as the lazy days pass by

Lammas is drawing ever nigh

The wheel is turning through the heat

So drink & love, feel natures beat

But ever mind its growing rage

Dense the clouds that take the stage

Lighting up the sky in flashes

Rumbling thunder as it crashes

This moment of the wheel’s round

This witch is only nature gowned

By the power of the Sun, made wild

She was born a summer child..

Winter is Come

Winter is Come

Winter calls through darkest night

Brings its cloak of frosted might

So huddle round a blazing fire

Watch its icy breath transpire

Stars are spread upon the ground

Celebrate, the Oak King’s crowned

As Yule is reached upon the Wheel

The longest night, we greatly feel.

Winds blow coldest from the North

Brings the snow which will henceforth

Be a force to paint the land

Earth and mountain, lake and sand

No escape from the frozen grasp

Until Imbolc unlocks the clasp

Then the waters will ceaseless flow

No more ice, frost, sleet or snow.

Sweet Shadow

This poem I wrote as a gift for Sami (of the SamisSpirit youtube channel). I find her videos very inspirational but she gets a lot of flack for some of the subjects she talks about; the negative responses she receives are completely unnecessary which I why I wrote this for her so she knows that she has my support.

Sweet shadow, surround me, above and below

And darkness, embrace me wherever I go

Mysterious comfort the eye cannot see

It is you, sweet shadow that sets me free

Too long bound by only light

Ever searching for what is right

Xtreme the love of being true

At once, within the dark, I knew

Such a feeling cleared my way

Witch am I, and proud to say

It only took a moments glory

To add you, sweet shadow, to my story

Called in by your endless swells

Held in your depth, my essence dwells

Autumn 2012

Summer colours have gone to bed,

Now deepest orange and russet red.

Richest brown and glistening gold,

The Autumnal glow, we now behold.

Sky grows cloudy, feeling the chill,

The Earth is bending to winters will.

Transitional beauty a joy to behold,

Rain falls slowly, wind grows cold.

Reap the gifts of Mother Earth,

Pumpkins and cider yielding mirth.

Celebrating our Wiccan ways,

Mabon, Samhain and darkening days.

Scene & State of mind.

There are no words to describe how beautiful it is here at this time of year. I can smell the chill in the air, the truest sign that autumn has arrived. I am completely at peace in this moment; the colours are invigorating and warm; as I invoke them, I feel my base and sacral chakras swell and swirl with energy.

The silence of a natural place at sunrise is always stunning but right now it is overwhelming to the point of ecstasy. All of my senses are heightened and my third eye is tingling with anticipation. I would not trade this feeling for anything in this universe.

Where I am sitting I can see rabbits on a large open area which only a week ago was completely green; it now resembles a forest floor blanketed in the brown, gold and amber of the gently falling leaves of this magnificent season.
